Pine Ridge Knife Company officially started in the fall of 2011; however Mark has been making knives for over ten years now. Mark met a knife maker at the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous and found a blade he really liked; he then had the idea to add his own personal touch for an elk antler handle. These knives are very popular with horsemen and horsewomen. They are popular because of the slanted design of the sheath; the knife is easy to access in case of trouble. Hunters and fisherman are also grabbing up these knives for use in the hunting and fishing world as well. These knives are easy to sharpen and stay sharp for a long time while out in the field.
The 1/16" thick blades are made of a 1095 high carbon steel, which makes a great all around knife. The texture is a fire etching done in a coal forge. The blades are hardened to a 56 Rockwell. The handles are elk antler cut out of sheds found here in Utah and the surrounding area.
Mark feels that the quality of the sheaths are just as important as the knife itself. Being a custom saddle maker Mark uses quality skirting leather to build all his sheaths. The design of the sheaths have been tried and tested and they work.
